St. Joe's is an amazing place, every day I see the difference our care providers make in the lives of so many of our community members.
This year is a little different for me. I broke my toe this summer, it was just one of those dumb accidents where I wasn't looking where I was going and tripped and fell. My foot hurt like crazy.
The next day I went to emergency. I've been in our emergency many times, several for family members but I haven't needed any care myself. I've never broken a bone before either and who knew something so small could hurt so much.
I experienced the St. Joe's emergency experience first hand. The care was quick, friendly and expert. In about an hour I had my foot X-rayed and the break confirmed. My foot was taped and I was asked to come back the next morning for a consult with one of our orthopaedic surgeons. Another visit and I had a walking boot on and was on my way.
Our emergency gave me great care which is even more admirable considering that our team is working in a space built to help 60,000 people every year and this year they will see more than 102,000! That's a lot of care in a small space.
And you can help me do something to improve this moving forward. I've haven't been able to train much this summer but will by cycling next Sunday with even more passion than before. I know what a difference St. Joe's makes, my injury might have been small but I appreciated the Health Centre being there for me when I needed it. I know that's the case for many of you too and I'm hoping you'll help me by supporting my ride. I may not look pretty getting round the course but I'll get there and your help would really make a difference to ensure that our careproviders will get all the support we can give them.
It's my eight year anniversary at St. Joe's. I'd love it if you could make a donation of $80, $160, $240 or more.
Thanks for your support!
All the best,
