Ride for St. Joe's!
On Sunday, September 22nd I am participating in Cycle 4 St. Joe’s, a 22 km ride in honour of my late father, Peter Barnicke and for a hospital that has had a tremendous impact on me, my family and its community.
In addition to a long standing relationship with my family, St. Joe’s played an integral role in my father’s diagnose of larynx cancer. Where other institutions had diagnosed his symptoms as “acid reflux”, it was the dedication of the doctor’s at St. Joe’s that discovered the cancer in its early stages and gave my family and I two more years with my Dad.
Along with my brothers, I hope to raise a combined $12,000 honour our father’s legacy as the longest standing board member and support St. Joe’s commitment to their community.
Every dollar raised will be put to great use to build better spaces, to care for their ever-growing community, ensure the physicians and health care teams have the best equipment and technology to diagnose and treat patients, and create specialized areas to care for those in the community with specific health needs.
I encourage you to join me as we ride in support of St. Joe’s and in honour of my father. If you are unable to ride with us, please consider supporting our fundraising efforts and donating to a hospital I am grateful for and truly believe in.
