This is why I'm supporting Cycle 4 St. Joe's
Dear Friends,
I'd like to you to join me on Sunday, September 20th and Cycle 4 St. Joe's. Together, we'll ride as West End Warriors because St. Joe's needs us more than ever.
Most of you know I'm a passionate cyclist!
I got on my first real cycling bike in 2006, and I’ve been cycling ever since! Cycling trips out of the country are my only vice – but not according to Alessia! - and while sometimes I train more regularly than others, cycling is the only thing that I always go back to when I feel the pressure of work and life, when I need to clear my head, when I need a day immersed in nature … and when I just want to have a good time!
Most of you also know that in 2014 – while cycling – I suddenly felt unwell, and upon my good friend’s suggestion I drove myself to St. Joe’s to find out what was wrong. It turned out I had a blocked artery that required immediate attention; I received that attention at St. Joe’s where I’ve been going for my routine cardiology visits and exams ever since.
Finally, I should also mention that Domenico, Ludovica and Ottavia - our three children - were all born at St. Joe’s, and that over the years they’ve become regulars at the hospital’s CIBC Just for Kids Clinic where occasionally they also run into their pediatrician.
These are the most important reasons why I'm riding and why MOBILAW™ is one of the event's sponsors!
This year's event is more important than ever because it's raising critical funds to support emergency care at St. Joe's, including almost doubling the hospital's Emergency Department to keep patients safe. COVID-19 has accelerated plans to expand this community vital space and equip it with new technology. This will be the first post COVID-19 Emergency Department in the GTA so it will have new treatment areas, zones that ensure social distancing, and a separate Kids' Emergency with child-friendly touches.
Your support will also help equip other areas across St. Joe's to help track patient outcomes and support virtual medicine where needed. The hospital is also investing in the labs so test results are faster than ever before.
This is a really important cause to me because I know how much I've personally benefited from and depend on having great care in our west-end community. If you cannot join us, please feel free to make a donation by clicking on the "Donate" bar. Thank you for standing up to show your support for those on the frontlines.
Thank you!
